Difference Between Positive Punishment and Negative Punishment:

1. Definition:

   • Positive Punishment involves adding an unpleasant stimulus to decrease a behavior.

   • Negative Punishment involves removing a pleasant stimulus to reduce a behavior.

2. Example:

   • Positive Punishment: Giving extra homework for talking in class.

   • Negative Punishment: Taking away a student’s phone for breaking rules.

3. Purpose:
   Both aim to reduce unwanted behavior, but use opposite strategies—adding vs. removing stimuli.

4. Impact:

   • Positive punishment may cause fear or resentment.

   • Negative punishment may lead to disappointment or frustration.
